Boating
Enjoy the sailing, kayaking, canoeing, yachting and tours. in salt and fresh bodies of water. The State Parks boating program promotes enjoyable, safe, environmentally responsible recreation on Washington's waters in partnership with government, business, educators, citizen action groups and the boating public. Program activities are guided by a citizen advisory committee and, where possible, all boating safety activities occur at the county and city levels. The program provides assistance in training, equipment and materials to local groups in carrying out a network of boating safety education and law enforcement activities. On a statewide basis, the program conducts a targeted boating safety information program intended to increase the safety awareness of specific groups of boaters.

Camping, Fishing & Hiking
There are many campgrounds for every type of camper. Camp near mountains, beaches or lakes and enjoy fishing for salmon, bass or trout, or take in a great view and work out on the many hiking trails in the area. Choose tent, RV camping or select a nice resort. The choice is yours to enjoy!

Mountain Biking / Trails
Skagit Valley trails provide some lush, classically northwest, in-town singletrack suitable for the adventurous beginner. Rooty, rocky, twisting, forested roller coaster without as much steep climbing, but also without the corresponding distant views. Numerous spots along the route feature two distinct lines, or even trail splits, with a more beginner-friendly line and a more advanced, challenging, technical line. The trail network allows good explorability; numerous routes are available. Be creative, but be sensitive to the trails on which bikes are not allowed.

Whale Watching
Whale watching in Washington is popular April through September and usually focuses on the area in the northwest part of the state around the San Juan Islands.

A number of charter boat companies run whale watching cruises and you can find such charters at various ports around Puget Sound. We have listed below a number of well-know charter operations according to their home ports. The ports are listed alphabetically. In most cases it is a good idea to call ahead and make reservations in advance of the date you might want to join a whale watching cruise.
